Our unrelenting focus on technical design, engineering and operation makes USEI a strong partner for research and development in satellite and space technologies. 

Our R&D work is pioneering the application of leading-edge technologies to make military and commercial satellite communications more robust and protect the near-Earth space domain on which it depends. These include blockchain, distributed ledgers, 5^th generation communications, mesh radio, zero-trust networks and RF and optical sensors.

Among other projects, we are applying leading-edge technologies to ensure reliable communications even in the most highly contested environments to improve the physical and cyber security of electric grids. By analyzing RF signals and antenna positioning data, we created systems to improve space domain awareness, orbit determination and anomaly detection in satcom links.
