Brewster Teleport
The Brewster Teleport (BGS), in operation since 1966, is located four miles north of Brewster in North Central Washington with a geographical location of 48.147° N latitude, 119.696° W longitude, and 380 meters AMSL elevation. BGS is approximately three hours (140 miles) northwest of Spokane and four hours (200 miles) northeast of Seattle, in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountain range, on a plateau above the Okanogan River. From this location, BGS offers visibility for US domestic, international Pacific Ocean and Central and South America regions. In addition to these coverage benefits, the teleport receives less than 13 inches of total annual precipitation, is naturally shielded from Western Washington RF noise and has ‘grandfathered’ FCC protection from interfering operators entering within 150 kilometers of the teleport.
USEI has implemented more than 55 antennas at Brewster Teleport. We maintain 16 antennas ranging in sizes from 9m and 11m to 13m, 16m, 18m, and 30m, including five Standard C-band antennas, and an additional 25 antennas of smaller diameter, all within a perimeter security fence with controlled access and is monitored by CTV video surveillance. The antennas support traffic across GEO, MEO and LEO satellites for mission-critical DOD, air-traffic control, regional emergency, maritime, aviation and other key services. Low-cost, highly reliable power for the site comes from diverse local hydroelectric sources.
